Overview
Dictionary.com is an android application that lets the users search any word for their meaning & definitions. It contains the definitions of more than 2 millions words. It comes with two modes: Dictionary and Thesaurus. In the dictionary mode, it shows the meaning and definitions and in the thesaurus mode, it shows the word’s synonyms and antonyms. When you search a word, you will get its meaning with examples. So you can understand it better. It also shows its synonyms, origin and inflections as well. With these, not only you learn its meaning but also how & where to use them. You can tap the audio icon to hear the word’s pronunciation. It also supports voice search.
User-friendly Interface
It has a simple and easy-to-use interface. It comes with two themes: light and dark. It has a sticky search bar on the top, a hamburger menu icon on the top left corner and a star icon on the top left corner of the screen. You can swipe right from the left side of the screen or tap the hamburger icon to open the menu and navigate to various sections. With the star icon, you can open a menu that shows the list of recently searched words and favorite words. On the homescreen, it shows word of the day, synonym of the day and word games sections. When you search a word, it shows info in multiple sections such as definition, thesaurus, learners, examples, grammar, idioms etc. You can rearrange these sections as you like in the setting.
Games & New Words
Learn a new word everyday with Dictionary.com and increase your vocabulary. It sends a new word, their meaning, definition and all the information everyday. Thesaurus also sends a word and their synonyms. It’s a great app for learning. You can also play games and quiz in it. Start the word puzzle and make words with the given letters. Or start the vocab quiz and choose the most accurate synonym based on the given sentences.
