Monster Hunter Stories is a role playing game offered by CAPCOM CO., LTD. It has more than a million downloads on the Play Store. Hatch eggs, form bonds with monsters and go out on an adventure to find & hatch all kinds of monsters.
Story
The story starts in a village named Hakum. There are three friends — You, Lilia & Cheval. One day, you three go to a forest in search of the monster egg. Lilia finds the egg but none of you are sure what kind of monster will hatch from it. You three perform the Rite of Kinship with the stones lying around there. But it actually works and a monster hatches from the egg. The monster is a Rathalos type which is also known as the king of the skies. It becomes fond of you and you take it to your village. After some days, a dangerous monster infected by the “Black Blight ” attacks your village. It kills the entire family of Cheval. Rathalos fights it to save you. But gets defeated and falls down from the mountains. One year later, you become eligible for the monster rider and perform the Rite of Kinship using the Kinship Stone and get your first monster. You also get a new friend named Navirou who helps you in your journey.
Gameplay
In this game, you will explore a vast jungle, mountains, hills, villages and go through the story explained in the previous section. In your journey, you will face many dangers like wild monsters. Fighting the monsters is the main part of the game too. During fighting, your monster will also fight alongside you.
You will see multiple options on the right side of the screen: Fight, Monstie, Items, Switch & Rider. Use the switch button to change your monster, items button to use herbs or other consumables. With the rider button, you can cast a skill that will enhance the attributes of the selected character. Tap the fight button to engage in the fight. Then tap on the monster to attack him. A red line will be shown between the monsters & characters that shows that they are gonna attack head on.
There are three types of attacks: Power, Technical & Speed. In the head on attacks, your attack type will decide the result. Check this cycle – Power→Tech→Speed→Power. Use this cycle to win in the head on attacks. For instance, if the opponent uses a power attack, then choose the speed attack. It will deal more damage to him. But if you choose the tech attack, you will deal less damage as well as take more damage.
Your monster uses a random type of attack. But you can use the monstie button to choose a attack type for him too. But it will cost charge points. If you have no charge points, then you can’t give command to your monster.
Monsters
There are many types of monsters in this game. Each monster has unique active & passive skills and rider skills. You can use them in fights to increase their level. Leveling up increases the attributes like HP, ATK etc. Find the egg fragments on the map or by defeating the monsters. Then hatch them to get a new monster.
